Los países integrantes de la OPEP+ han acordado la reducción de producción petrolera en unos 10 millones de barriles diarios, según ha publicado el ministro de petróleo de Kuwait, Khaled Fadhel.
“Con un sabio liderazgo, esfuerzos constantes y negociaciones constantes desde el amanecer del 11 de abril. Anunciamos ahora la conclusión de un acuerdo histórico para reducir la producción en aproximadamente 10 millones de barriles diarios por parte de los miembros de la OPEP+, a partir del 1 de mayo de 2020”, escribió el ministro de petróleo de Kuwait, Khaled Fadhel en su cuenta de Twitter.
El pasado 9 de abril, los países agrupados en la alianza OPEP+, a excepción de México, acordaron en una reunión extraordinaria un plan de recortes de la producción petrolera en tres etapas en comparación con los niveles de octubre de 2018.
El acuerdo prevé en la primera etapa, entre mayo y junio, un recorte 10 mb/d.
Durante la segunda etapa, de julio a diciembre, la reducción pasaría a ser de 8 mb/d y durante la tercera, de enero de 2021 a abril de 2022, de 6 mb/d.
La OPEP+ subrayó que el acuerdo está condicionado al consentimiento de México.
El presidente mexicano, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, anunció que su país reducirá su producción de petróleo en 100.000 barriles diarios, esto es un 5,5% y no un 23% como solicitaban los países de OPEP+, tras un acuerdo con su par estadounidense, Donald Trump.
Por su parte, Trump informó que EEUU ofreció ayuda a México para que este país pueda recortar su producción de petróleo en línea con lo acordado por los países que integran la OPEP+.
